In the Nativity story in the Gospel of Luke, the first people to be told of the birth of Jesus were “shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.” (Luke 2:8) In those days, shepherds were essential to the economy but were among the lowest strata of society. Why would they be chosen by the author to receive such remarkable news? What lessons from the story could apply to our own times?
This will be an intergenerational service, so there will be no children’s Religious Education.
Also, please note this will be the only service on Christmas Eve.
